Over the years I have kept fowl and always enjoyed having them. I find watching them both relaxing and entertaining and it is great to have fresh eggs each day, so I am delighted to have them as part of my set up again.
I feel they are an important link in the chain of the gardener/homesteader. Currently I am feeding them lots of greens that have gone over in the vegetable garden. In return they will turn it into a nitrogen rich, compostable material. They will also eat up any veg and bread waste from the kitchen (not that there is much of that?). They also get layers pellets.
In the past they have often met their demise by Mr. Fox, so this time I have made sure to have their run very secure.
