SUMMARY:Sculpting & Building with Cob & Other Natural Materials -Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd Aug 2026
DESCRIPTION:A two-day workshop at Green Road Gardens where we will learn to build a sculptural garden piece alongside repairing a wattle and daubed wall on an existing building. \nWe will cover a range of natural build techniques during the 2 days which will give participants a range of skills and confidence to start their own projects. The workshop will cover: \n\nSoil analysis -how to find suitable subsoil for cob and other earthen built methods\nHow to use/mix different subsoils with fibres\nChoosing the right method for task/desired outcome\nWattle and daub\nRepairing mud wall or earthen structures\nMud mortar\nVarious uses and techniques\n\ncob bench\ncob balls\nassessing soil\ncob oven\nCost includes all materials\, lunches and coffee breaks. \nSat 22nd & Sun 23rd Aug 2026 – The class runs from 10am until approx. 5pm both days. \nThis class is being facilitated by Green Road Gardens in conjunction with green build artist\, Ger Cussen and well-known sculpture Imogen Stafford. \nGer has been delivering community earth building workshops since 2015 and has gained an MSc Green building from Centre of Alternative Technology in Wales in 2021. She completed a two-year craft education with Grennan Mill Craft school in 2017and is currently on the Artist in Community Panel for Wexford. Her main focus is Sustainability and using natural and low impact building materials to help connect people to place through local materials in a low impact manner. \nAs a Sculptor from Wexford\, Imogen has been expressing her creativity through many mediums. These go from formal bronze\, willow and wire sculpture to developing a new forms of sculpture using organic materials such as heather\, straw\, moss\, branches and bark. .Imogen has worked with many community groups\, leading people to learn to create artistic pieces using various media and also creating Collaborative Artworks.
