SUMMARY:Hypertufa Troughs (Two half days – Sat 13th & Sat 20th July)
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to make an inexpensive stone trough look-alike from hypertufa from easily obtained materials. \nStone troughs can be very heavy but the use of vermiculite in our mix makes them considerably lighter and a lot easier to handle. \nOn the first part of this workshop Sat 13th July  (10am – 3pm) you will sculpt your own small trough. In the second part of the workshop Sat 20th July (10am – 2pm) you will finish your trough using techniques to make it more natural and aged looking. We will then look at how to plant it up with succulents. You will also learn how to propagate succulents to bring home to fill your trough. \nPrice includes tea/coffee on arrival and  home-cooked lunch on both days.

This class which will run one morning a month and will give us the opportunity to see the plant at all stages of its yearly cycle. The class is aimed at those who would like to improve their plant identification and general gardening skills. It is also for those of you who would just like to spend a nice morning in the garden with like minded people! \nTopics include: \n\nIdentification of specific plants that are at their seasonal best and their individual maintenance needs such as growing conditions;\nColour through the seasons; Managing herbaceous borders; Propagation and seed sowing;\nConfidence in using the secateurs;\nRecognizing friends from foe and dealing with accordingly;\nPropagating and seed sowing; and\,\nTrouble shooting – questions and answers on topical issues.\n\nWhile we will mainly cover plants in the ornamental garden we will also deal with topical issues in the ‘vegetable garden’. Each class will include time for some hands-on practical experience. SUMMARY:Hypertufa Troughs (Two half days – 19th & 26th Aug)
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to make an inexpensive stone trough look-alike from hypertufa from easily obtained materials. \nStone troughs can be very heavy but the use of vermiculite in our mix makes them considerably lighter and a lot easier to handle. \nOn the first part of this workshop Sat 19th & 26th Aug  (10am – 3pm) you will sculpt your own small trough. In the second part of the workshop Sat 26th Aug (10am – 2pm) you will finish your trough using techniques to make it more natural and aged looking. We will then look at how to plant it up with succulents. You will also learn how to propagate succulents to bring home to fill your trough. \nPrice includes tea/coffee on arrival and  home-cooked lunch on both days.

SUMMARY:Garden Through the Seasons
DESCRIPTION:One of the great pleasures of gardening is observing the constant changing patterns of colour and form as plants move through their growing cycle. This class which will run one morning a month and will give us the opportunity to see the plant at all stages of its yearly cycle. The class is aimed at those who would like to improve their plant identification and general gardening skills. It is also for those of you who would just like to spend a nice morning in the garden with like minded people! \nTopics include: \n\nIdentification of specific plants that are at their seasonal best and their individual maintenance needs such as growing conditions;\nColour through the seasons; Managing herbaceous borders; Propagation and seed sowing;\nConfidence in using the secateurs;\nRecognizing friends from foe and dealing with accordingly;\nPropagating and seed sowing; and\,\nTrouble shooting – questions and answers on topical issues.\n\nWhile we will mainly cover plants in the ornamental garden we will also deal with topical issues in the ‘vegetable garden’. Each class will include time for some hands-on practical experience. Through our propagation and seed saving tutorials you will also have the opportunity to take home a piece of Green Road Gardens!!!! \nDates & Booking: \nThe classes will take place on the first Sunday morning of each month from April to September  inclusive. You can purchase the monthly classes individually (€50) or as a block booking for the full 6 monthly classes (€250)\, receiving one class free. \nCost includes a home-cooked lunch and coffee breaks each day and some plants to take home.

SUMMARY:Hypertufa Troughs (Two half days – 6th & 13th May)
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to make an inexpensive stone trough look-alike from hypertufa from easily obtained materials. \nStone troughs can be very heavy but the use of vermiculite in our mix makes them considerably lighter and a lot easier to handle. \nOn the first part of this workshop Sat 6th May  (10am – 3pm) you will sculpt your own small trough. In the second part of the workshop Sat 13th May (10am – 2pm) you will finish your trough using techniques to make it more natural and aged looking. We will then look at how to plant it up with succulents. You will also learn how to propagate succulents to bring home to fill your trough. \nPrice includes tea/coffee on arrival and  home-cooked lunch on both days.

SUMMARY:Willow in the Garden
DESCRIPTION:Willow is an extremely useful and versatile plant in the garden.\n\n\nIn this workshop you will learn how to propagate\, grow and harvest the willow. \nWe will then work on a number of projects using both fresh and seasoned rods. \nEach participant will make and take home their own willow T-pee (plant support). You will also learn how to make a leaf mould basket in addition to a ‘fedge’ (a cross between a fence and a hedge) from living willow. \nThe class runs from 9.30am until 5pm on Sunday 23rd April.
